‘Ready to fight for it’: Zinchenko feels results against rivals give Arsenal belief

* Zinchenko: title push fuelled by not losing to City or Liverpool
* Arsenal travel to Brighton on Saturday before hosting Bayern




Oleksandr Zinchenko says that Arsenal are fortified for the Premier League title run-in by their unbeaten record in this season’s competition against Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Ukraine left-back started for the first time in two months as Arsenal beat Luton 2-0 at home on Wednesday night to follow up Sunday’s 0-0 draw at City. Zinchenko’s previous appearance in the starting XI had been in the 3-1 home win over Liverpool on 4 February when he was forced off at half-time with a calf injury that would see him miss the next five matches. On Thursday 22 October 1992, I attended an event in Crewe to hear Simon Armitage, a newly published poet, read his work. I remember the date because I still have the ticket and poetry recitals were not a normal night out for those of us who grew up in the pubs and clubs of Grimsby in that era. It was a night that changed my life as I glimpsed a possible world that could coexist alongside the heavy-drinking, sometimes scrapping, football-loving culture and the constraints men set themselves back then. Some constraints were self-imposed, others were rooted in the ignorance and prejudice of the time.
